Lewisham Removals

South-east London, properly known

Moving home across Lewisham, made straightforward.

House, terrace, flat and man-and-van moves from Deptford to Sydenham — with the stairs, the parking and the permit sorted before the day rather than on it.

What moving here is actually like

Six things about Lewisham that change the day

Almost everything is a conversion

A large share of the borough’s Victorian and Edwardian houses are now flats. That means a shared front door, a communal staircase with a half-landing, and no lift — which is a different job from a house move even when the contents are identical.

The parking zone decides the date

Most streets near Lewisham, Catford, Brockley and Deptford sit inside a CPZ. We apply to the council for a bay suspension, and the application needs lead time. Book late and the date moves.

Two red routes and a market

The A2 through New Cross has no stopping during controlled hours, the South Circular is impossible at peak, and Deptford High Street closes for its market. All three are planned around rather than discovered.

The hill is real

Forest Hill and Sydenham are built into a slope. A tail lift needs level ground, and a flight of front steps changes the crew size more than an extra bedroom does.

June and September are chaos

Goldsmiths empties and refills, and half of New Cross tries to move in the same fortnight. Those dates need booking well ahead of everyone else.

Nobody counts the loft

The single most common reason a quote turns out wrong. We count it, and the garden, and the cupboard under the stairs, at the survey.

What we do

Six kinds of move

What each includes
  • House and terrace removals

Whole-home moves across the borough, sized on what is actually in the loft rather than on a bedroom count.

  • Flat and conversion moves

The borough is full of Victorian villas split into flats. Shared stairs, half-landings and no lift are the normal conditions.

  • Man and van

Single rooms, part loads and collections — the same blankets and straps as a full removal, scaled down.

  • Student and shared-house moves

Goldsmiths and the New Cross shared houses, where one room moves and the rest of the house carries on.

  • Packing and storage

Full or part packing with proper cartons, and sealed storage for the gap between moving out and moving in.

  • First homes and small moves

A first flat is rarely a full lorry. It still deserves a crew who protect the doorframes.

Questions

Common questions about moving in Lewisham

The full list is on the FAQ page — or just ask us.

Which parts of Lewisham do you cover?

The whole borough. This site goes deep on Catford, Lee and Hither Green, Brockley and Crofton Park, Deptford and New Cross, and Forest Hill and Sydenham — the five areas where the moving day is genuinely different. We work everywhere in between too.

Do I need a parking suspension?

If your street is in a controlled parking zone — and most of the borough near the centres is — then usually yes. We apply to Lewisham Council on your behalf, but the application needs lead time, so tell us the confirmed date as early as you can. It is the single most common reason a move here has to be rescheduled.

My flat is on the top floor of a Victorian villa with no lift.

That is the standard Brockley and Crofton Park job. A stair carry needs more hands and more time than a lift, so the crew is sized for the floor rather than for the number of boxes. We would rather put an extra person on than have two people wrestling a sofa round a half-landing.

Can you move one room out of a shared house?

Yes, and it is a lot of what we do around New Cross and Deptford. We work quietly around the housemates who are staying and get in and out without turning the whole house over.

How does a quote work?

A survey first, in person or over video. We look at both addresses, the access at each end, the stairs, the steps and the street. Then you get a written quote with the crew, the vehicle and what is included. We do not price a move off a postcode and a room count.

Do you move outside London?

Yes — long-distance moves out of the borough to anywhere in mainland Britain are ordinary work. European moves we can arrange, though the route-pair detail for France, Spain, Italy and Portugal lives on other sites in this network and we will point you to whichever fits.

Tell us about your move

Send us both addresses and roughly what is going. We will arrange a survey, check the stairs and the parking at each end, and come back with a written quote.
